Pennsylvania is noted for its hilly and mountainous terrain which covers most of the state. The resort developers also have recognized this since the state has 25 resorts to choose from when searching for ski resorts packages. Each resort is unique in its own way. All provide season passes. However, each resort has a different idea of what these packages include. In addition to skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing in the winter, they also provide activities such as fishing, grass-skiing, swimming, etc for the summer enthusiasts. Some of them even have full water parks with all kinds of water rides. However, for the purposes of this article, we are going to emphasize the winter packages. In this article, we will talk about three top resorts in Pennsylvania and what each package has to offer.

We will start with a beautiful resort located in south-central PA, Blue Nob. Not only does the resort boast the highest ski peak in the state, their season pass package is one of the best for ski enthusiasts. If you are just visiting and decide you want to purchase a season pass for next year, you can ski for free during the rest of the current season. They also offer great rental packages for both skis and snowboards. If you do not have your own skis, you can purchase a rental package which includes boots and poles at no extra cost. The snowboard rental package includes the boots. As you can see, Blue Nob provides one the the best ski resorts packages in Pennsylvania.

Now, we will take a look at the largest resort in Pennsylvania, Seven Springs. Their season package is also packed with extras such as discount ski lessons, ski as many times as you want to ski during the season, free passes for March guests and a seasonal locker in the lodge. They have great lodging packages as well for both kids and adults. Yes, the ski resorts packages offered at Seven Springs provide fun for all ages.

Hidden Valley is a great resort for beginners. It is located in Hidden Valley, PA and has many novice, or green, trails. This resort is perfect for a family ski trip. There are also moderate ski trails for the adventurous novice who wants to try the next difficulty level or for those skiers that have a little more experience than the novice. Like Seven Springs, Hidden Valley has resorts packages for both skiing and lodging. Ski packages include the season pass, four free Wednesday passes, discount lodging, use of the fitness center, seasonal locker and access to the preferred parking spaces. There are two types of season passes. There is the full pass for the whole season and there is also a cheaper mid-week version. They also sell three different spa packages. As you can see, Hidden Valley has a lot to offer the family.

These are just 3 of the 25 resorts that are located in Pennsylvania. You can see the differences just between these three resorts. The point we are trying to make in this article is that no matter what your needs are, you should be able to find a number of resorts packages in Pennsylvania to fill those needs.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), enacted and enforced by the U.S. Department of Labor, establishes national standards for minimum wage and overtime. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor is responsible for upholding the FLSA, as well as additional Pennsylvania-specific labor laws. If you are a Pennsylvania employee, it is important that you familiarize yourself with these Federal and state laws so that you know when your rights are being violated.

Pennsylvania Overtime

Pennsylvania overtime refers to any hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek. The term “workweek” has a specific legal definition: seven consecutive days, beginning on whatever day the employer chooses. However, the workweek must always begin on that same day for the duration of an individual’s employment. Two or more workweeks cannot be averaged to determine overtime hours. Each week stands on its own.

Not everyone is entitled to overtime in Pennsylvania. The law has categories of worker types and business types that are exempt. For non-exempt employees, overtime pay in Pennsylvania is 1.5 times an employee’s regular rate of hourly pay. According to Pennsylvania labor law:

    * The regular rate of pay must include any commissions or other performance-based bonuses, but not holiday bonuses or any other kind of cash incentive that isn’t measurable by work performance.
* A salaried employee may be eligible for overtime. Exemptions exist only for those who are in executive, administrative, or professional positions, and who make at least $455 a week in salary. A salaried employee’s regular rate of hourly pay is his or her salary divided by weeks in the year and hours in a workweek. In other words, salary ÷ 52 ÷ 40.
* In cases where Federal and state labor laws conflict, the law giving the most benefit to the employee is upheld. Therefore, while the FLSA restricts employees making $100,000 a year or more from being entitled to time-and-a-half pay, Pennsylvania overtime law does not put a cap on salaries that qualify for overtime.
* Computer workers are entitled to overtime pay in Pennsylvania, even though they are considered exempt under the FLSA.

Pennsylvania Minimum Wage

The minimum wage in Pennsylvania is the same as the national minimum wage: $7.25 an hour. Employees that are not exempt (see above) must be paid at this rate, irrespective of the method of payment. That is, day laborers, tipped employees (at least $30 a month), and employees working on a piece rate or commission basis must make at least $7.25 an hour when their total pay is divided by their hours worked. If tipped employees do not make enough in tipped wages to equal the minimum wage, their employer must cover the difference.

If you believe you have had wages withheld from you, this wage and hour law information cannot replace professional legal advice

Pennsylvania auto insurance requirements are very unique when it comes to the first party benefits portion of the policy. Unlike many other states, Pennsylvania’s first party benefits are the only “not guilty” portion of the coverage that is required by the state’s laws. These insurance applies to you and you household family members, thus the “first party” designation. I will try to explain these coverages in a way that I hope will help guide you toward making a better informed decision on what limits will best cover your family.

Medical expense coverage is required in the amount of $5000 for each automobile you insure on your policy. This coverage is considered primary in Pennsylvania and will pay before any other insurance when you are injured in an automobile accident. You and any of your family members will be covered for up to $5000 in medical expenses each. Pennsylvania auto insurance law requires each company to offer up to $100,000 in medical expense coverage. For clients who do not currently carry major medical insurance I would advise carrying a higher limit of medical expense coverage.

Income loss coverage is not mandatory in Pennsylvania but it is a very affordable coverage. Consider adding this coverage to protect your potential lost salary in the event that you are injured in an automobile accident. I’d like to remind you that this is also a “no fault” coverage which means that irregardless of who is at fault your lost wages will be paid by your insurance policy. Limits up to $100,000 and as low as $5,000 can be added to your policy for very minimal cost.

Funeral benefit and adeath benefits due to accident insurance are both available as add-ons. Neither of these coverages are mandatory but are relatively inexpensive to add. If you think a dollar or two is worth covering yourself and family for these unforeseen expenses, you’ll want to add this coverage.

Extraordinary Medical Expenses is a coverage that was assigned to the insurance companies when the state of Pennsylvania decided its CAT fund could no longer afford to exist. This coverage covers the medical expenses beginning at 100,000 and up to 1,000,000. If you are adding this coverage to your policy you need to be sure that you are carrying $100,000 on the medical expense portion or you will have a huge gap in coverage.

The state of Pennsylvania is home to about 12 million residents, the 6th most populous places in the United States of America. If you live in this place and you are planning to buy second hand vehicle for your personal and family transportation needs, then among the best places to go are car auctions in Pennsylvania. These places can give you one of the best deals in your life; with numerous good quality cars offered at amazingly very low prices.

Most of the units scheduled for bidding at these places are bank repossessed vehicles from delinquent clients who failed to meet their financial obligations; some are government seized units from lawless elements caught by several government agencies. Other items are also seized by the tax agents from people who failed to pay their taxes for several times.

Since all these acquired assets can cost these various institutions huge expenses in terms of storage fees and maintenance that is why they were handed over to several car auctions in Pennsylvania for immediate disposal; by offering them at very low starting bid prices.

However, if you really want to get real bargain from your purchase in these places, there are several things that you need to do first to ensure that you will get an excellent vehicle purchased at an amazingly low price. One of the things that you have to do is to inspect the unit; considering the fact that these acquired assets are mostly used cars. You should inspect both the exterior and interior features; as well as the engines in order to make proper valuation and come up with the right current market value.

The results of your inspection can also serve as the basis for your price ranges to bid on; but make that you also strictly adhere to the projected price ranges during the actual bidding in order to get excellent deals for the acquisition. But prior to your inspection, you have to select the right vehicle by visiting one of the car auctions in Pennsylvania; such as the following:

Greater Erie Auto Auction – 7700 Avonia Rd, Fairview, PA 16415
Butler Auto Auction – 145 Lindsay Rd, Zelienople, PA 16063
Allentown Auto Auction – 3880 Lehigh St, Whitehall, PA 18052
Mason Dixon Auto Auction – 12876 Molly Pitcher Hwy, Greencastle, PA 17225
York Spring Auto Auction – 10 Auction Dr, York Springs, PA 17372

Another option for your search for car auctions in Pennsylvania is to go online and use of the online services that features the complete listings of all vehicles scheduled for bidding in this State.

Pennsylvania is full of life from the cities with people to the mountains with wildlife. If you find a road less traveled sometimes what you will find will amaze you. The area has four distinct seasons so plan your trip in the season with the temperature you most enjoy. Discover the beauty of hardwood forest and the rage of the rivers.

Pennsylvania Grand Canyon was created by nature by a glacier as was its counter part in Arizona. The gorge is breathtakingly beautiful and a
hikers paradise. You can observe eagles swooping through the gorge and hike through hardwood forest. You can hike from rim to rim and the adventure will stick in your memory for life.

If a canoe adventure is your way getting away from it all. The Clarion River above Piney Reservoir is where you will find eagles, otters, osprey and bears. The river is well used in this area and still beautiful and full of life. The water levels here may not be high enough for a canoe trip to the dam during all seasons so be sure and check on the water levels before heading down river.

You can drop your canoe in after Piney Reservoir and the water levels will not be a problem. Due to acidic tributaries running into the river the wild life is not as abundant the area is still beautiful. Looking for a place to check out some wildlife for a few hours? Evansburg State Park offers up scenic hiking trails the woods here have both northern and southern hardwood and abundance of wild life and picnic tables.

Travel the Lincoln Highway through the Allgheny Mountains along the way you will see the sense of humor of the people in the area. Frank Lloyd Wright waterfall house that is an engineering feat, considering the man never went to college. He did study building practices the old fashioned way from apprentice to journeyman. This house is recognized as one of his best and is a must for people who love great architecture.

Follow the highway and you will be able to see the rugged Allgheny Mountains. Along the way you can sip on the grapes of the area and see what the wine tells you. Take a side road and find a side canyon and hike through the area. Spend the night at one of the camping spots.

Hike along the Delaware Canal and you can take a casual hike or trek the entire 40 miles. The area is full of history. Here you can hike or canoe down the 65 miles of the lower Delaware River considered a National treasure. The hardwood forest the wildlife and the four seasons make this area worth taking a close and personal look.

Many homes built in Pennsylvania, especially those that are located in the rural areas, rely on onsite sewage treatments in their properties. Often referred to as septic systems, these are actually quite effective tools in order to treat and distribute the sewage in a safe and economical manner. There are different kinds of septic systems which can be constructed in properties. The particular kind chosen should depend on the condition of the site as well as the type of soil found in the area.

According to the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act, local agencies are required to administer a permitting program in order for a property to have a septic system installed. The objective is to ensure that the construction of the system adheres to the standards of design and installation processes. Ultimately, the goal is to prevent environmental and health problems caused by a malfunction. After all, no matter how effective the sewage cleanup in Pennsylvania is, the best option is to avoid the hassle entirely.

For those who are thinking about buying property in Pennsylvania, the state government recommends investigating the property as a precaution. Among some of the things that need to be determined include whether or not it has complied with all the state, county, and local requirements and if all the documents in zoning and building are available. If the lot that is up for purchase is to be installed with a septic system, a permit needs to be obtained from a local certified Sewage Enforcement Officer. It is important to note that the subdivision approval does not necessarily mean that a sewage permit can be had.

The Sewage Enforcement Officer is the one who is responsible with reviewing and approving the permit application. This particular expert is required to have a State Board Certification of Sewage Enforcement Officers to ensure technical knowledge.

If there is any doubt or concern regarding the permits needed for the onsite construction, it is best to contact a professional sewage cleanup company. Oftentimes, they are already familiar with the rules and may be able to recommend which steps to take next. Local government officials where the property is located in may also be of assistance with regards to the documentary requirements.

Pennsylvania is a state rich with its rich historical heritage. The great heritage buildings and sites like the Liberty Bell and the Independence Hall (Philadelphia), Amish Country (Lancaster County), the Valley Forge Encampment, the Gettysburg Battlefield and several stops all along the Underground Railroad. Paranormal Investigators and Ghost Hunters are of the view that this close intimacy of Pennsylvania to the pages of History includes a lot more than just the artifacts of the yesteryears. They predict a number of haunted places in PA.

And that is quite evident as all through the state of Pennsylvania there are a number of sites that are known to be eerie and haunted. There are numerous tales of these haunted places in PA that are not just interesting but at times frightening as well. Now let’s explore some of the haunted places in PA, town by town as they continue to rest in the ravages of time with their inherent hushed stories to be told. Starting with Gettysburg some of the paranormal investigators believe that Gettysburg is supposedly not just one of the most haunted places in PA but also the most eerie place in the entire America.

This is primarily because it is the site of one of the most notable battles ever, the Civil War. Gettysburg is said to be the site to numerous ghostly sightings of the fallen soldiers in the battle who still continue to walk down the streets around Gettysburg which were once the bloody battles where they breathed their last. Next in the list is Indiana situated in the South-Western part of Pennsylvania, this place is the home town of the famous Eliza Furnace. This is one of the oldest iron furnaces in America that is preserved till the day.

But the place is taken to be again one of the most haunted places in PA as it is said to be visited by the spirit of David Ritter who had dangled and hanged himself in the way in to the furnace. People can often see the apparition in the entrance eerily dangling on the end of a noose. Johnstown is yet another of the ghostly places known in Pennsylvania, especially as one of the most haunted places in PA. The Johnstown Incline Plane is enlisted in the legendary Guinness Book of World Records as the most vertically placed vehicular inclined plane around the globe. Last but not the least is Philadelphia, the Eastern State Penitentiary to be precise. This prison, supposedly one of the most haunted places in PA, was once home to infamous gangster Al Capone, is now abandoned and is haunted by the ghosts of several prisoners who died here. People have also seen the apparition of a ghost guard who can often be seen in the guard towers.
